Following the expansion of its presence in eastern North Carolina in late 2025, Airbus continues to advance its commitment to the Kinston region through targeted job creation, capital investment and community enrichment.

On July 23, Airbus signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Lenoir Community College (LCC). The technical training agreement establishes a powerful partnership aimed at supporting workforce development in the community. By developing specialized aviation training opportunities, the initiative will help create a highly skilled labor force prepared for successful careers in the aerospace industry.

The MOU was signed by Marc Swinkels, Airbus Vice President and General Manager of the Kinston site, alongside Dr. Rusty Hunt, President of LCC. Both leaders shared their enthusiasm for the positive impact the program will have on the eastern North Carolina region.

“This is one of the many milestones we will achieve together,” said Marc Swinkels, Airbus Vice President and General Manager in Kinston. “We believe this is a great opportunity for the local community and a great partnership to help continue the work Lenoir County has done to create a hub for aviation in the region.”

For students who successfully complete the new training program, the curriculum will create direct pathways for employment in the aviation and aerospace sectors.

“On behalf of the college, this is a historic day for us and an exciting day for us,” stated Dr. Rusty Hunt, LCC President. “We look forward to expanding our partnership to best serve Airbus and ultimately our students that are in the community who want to be a part of the aviation industry.”

Community is deeply rooted in shared experiences, common goals and strong partnerships. North Carolina carries a deep legacy of leading aviation innovation, and Airbus proudly embodies that same innovative spirit alongside its partners at Lenoir Community College.
